6150 and 6160 keypad buttons hard during the winter
does anyone else have problems with their Honeywell keypad buttons getting hard and have to be pressed harder to register in the winter ? Both of my keypads which are brand new replaced in December of 2018 buttons gets really stiff and hard when i press any keys during the winter but when I turn on the heater the buttons are soft again and easy to press like regularly. It’s getting really frustrating.

Those membrane switch buttons are of a type of plastic that I'm not surprised would stiffen up in cooler temperatures. What's the temperature range that you start having trouble?

That's not that cold. I've seen these keypads used in non-climate controlled warehouses, with no real problem. Don't know how old this keypad is. It could simply be that the plastic of the keypad switch membrane is getting old.

If the keypad is mounted on an outside wall, there could be cold air moving through a penetrated vapor barrier and into the keypad. I've seen keypads get pretty cold, but never what you're describing.
For an initial test, I would burn a punk stick below the keypad and watch the smoke. Even more conclusive would be to remove the keypad from the wall leaving the back mounted and repeat the test.

Yes both keypads are mounted onto a outside wall. When I turn on the whole house fan I can feel a breeze coming out of the keypads. The outside tempature here is usually 30 to 40 in the winter

I bought some foam installation made for outdoor wall outlets then cut it in the keypad shape for both with one side having a double sided tape and it worked !
