spider water fitting

Replaced friends barbed water line fitting, it was broke, with one I had in my garage. When tight, it`s 180* degrees from my water pump. Am I missing something, or do I need to rotate the spider assy. ? Tnx. Part is called water distribution adaptor.

It`s on a 4500 cfm evap. cooler. The top fitting that carries water from the pump up to the spider assy., & to the pads.

Usually that is a swivel fitting where it can be tightened in any position. Sometimes you can put teflon tape on a fitting and not tighten it fully so it points in the right direction.

This one goes on by hand until the shoulder stops it, which is facing away from the pump. Right now I have the threads wrapped with Teflon tape, as you said, but doesn`t seem to me to be correct. But if that`s the only solution, we`ll live with it.
