Using a Mold Killing Primer

I have vertical cedar siding that is showing mold under the semi-transparent stain. Does "Mold Killing Primer" followed by solid stain or paint really work? Would appreciate you expert opinions and thanks in advance.

I've never heard of a mold killing primer although some paints have more mildewcide than others. It is not a good idea to paint over mold/mildew! I'd wash the siding with a bleach/water mixture and rinse well to remove the mold/mildew. You can add extra mildewcide to whatever coating you use.

Zinnser makes great primers so I'm less inclined to dismiss their claims BUT I'd still fill better about doing the best I could to wash off the mold first!
