Question Re Siding

I have a house that was built in 1979 with the original siding. It is old weathered cedar siding and I have had water leaks in a couple windows. I've removed the siding and underneath is that foam sheathing. I am planning to install a house wrap before I put the new siding on. Any ideas how I can flash the windows? Products? All I can find about flashing a window is about flashing the opening before the window is installed.

If the nailing fin is on top of the foam you just need to use any butyl peel and stick flashing tape to seal the window to the new housewrap. Look up and follow the directions for either Tyvek home wrap or Tyvek Straightflash. If the foam has been applied over the nail fin it gets a little more complicated, and pics might help us see what you see.

Looks like my first window's nailing fin is on top of the nailing fin but the other window is not. Can you see the pics OK?

It's possible that the 2nd window doesn't have a nail fin. Very bad installation practice. Take a thin putty knife and see how far you can slide it in.

You're right. It went all the way through. I could see light from the inside of the house.

Thats not good. When you install your flashing tape on that window, you will want to fold a flap out onto the window to seal that perimeter.
