I'm re-siding the back of my house. The original ship lap siding's first row went all the way down to the patio with molding so there was no gap between the patio and the siding. I removed the siding and there is about 2 1/2" from the patio to the finish floor level. I'm putting on LP Smart Side lap siding and they recommend the siding's first row be at least 4" above ground. If I rip out the patio I would have to re-excavate my back yard cause the concrete patio is the same level as the grass. I don't want to do that. It's a wood frame house. That part of the house is built on a concrete slab. Any ideas on what to do?

Post a picture of what you have.
There needs to also be a piece of Z molding up under the siding and out over the PVC lumber to prevent water from getting in behind it.

I went to the Azek website and found a Universal Skirt Board. Is that the product? I couldn't find it at the Home Depot website. Home Depot had 3/4 in. x 7-1/4 in. x 8 ft. White PVC Trim by Veranda but would have to order it. Is that the thing to get? Appreciate all the help. This forum has been great help.
