Installing new siding -Top gap
We started installing new siding but since it was first time may be we did mistake. As we went up on the top we have a 2 inch gap so full width siding will not fit. What are my options here?
I hope not to take out all the sidings and redo again. Please advise.
Thanks,
S2K

You always have to rip the top row to whatever width is needed. The amount of overlap will remain the same. You may need to nail a shim to the sheathing if it wont sit at the correct angle without tipping.

The best way in most cases is to install a a piece of under sill ( also called utility trim) inside of the J molding at the top of the wall and use a Snap Lock punch to form locking tabs to lock in the top row of siding.

What kind of siding are we talking about in the first place? Vinyl? Fiber cement? Cedar clapboard, LP?
