Vinyl insulated - nails in weep holes
Just had insulation vinyl sidings done and noticed contractors put nails inside weep holes. This is allowed? Doesn't seem to add up why nails would be put in weep holes.

Welcome to the forums! Do you have pictures of this? I would find it difficult to put a nail in a siding weep hole. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

I don't understand what they were nailing into. Not seeing the entire top row, normal practices would have used a trim piece inside the j or f channel with a crimp on the siding. OR, second best would have been white aluminum nails in the top of the siding. Maybe Brant will have more insight on this. Hang in there.

Not the right way to do it.
#1, There now blocking the needed drain holes.
#2, Vinyl siding expands and contracts a lot and the nails will stop the siding from moving, until they just loosen up and fall out.
Vinyl siding should never be faced nailed!
Need a picture where the very top of the siding falls.

I would. The nails are not the proper way to do it. They probably didn't have the right materials to do the job the day they needed it. Or maybe they do it like that all the time... hard to say.
