how to repair small hole in siding?

We recently removed a Comcast cable that went through an exterior wall and I want to fix the hole but don't know the best way to do so. I think the siding is composite wood. The electrician put some white stuff in the hole and I'm not sure what it is. I'd like to post a picture but I don't see an attachment feature here. How do I prevent moisture from getting in?

Welcome to the forums.

This will help.... http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

Normally a little silicone or even electricians duct seal putty is used in the hole.
If you want to repair it completely..... use a product like plastic wood or Durhams rock hard water putty. Both dry rock hard. You could sand it smooth and paint to match.

He probably used caulking, hopefully it's the paintable kind. Usually just touching it up with paint is satisfactory for most folks.
