best caulk

Hi, I'm replacing some exterior trim, and I'll need to do some caulking to seal things up. I'm looking for expert recommendations for the best caulking material to use. I'm interested in something that's fairly easy to smooth out after it's applied (I'm not the neatest caulker), long lasting, and paintable. Any good advice?
Thanks, Steve

Quad, comes in a lot of colors which is good since you want to avoid painting. Caulking is flexible so any paint will eventually crack.

You'll probably have 10 different answers but I like DAP.
