Help identifying wood siding

Any thoughts on what type of wood this siding could be? It's on a house (built in 1999) in middle Tennessee.

The grain looks a lot like cedar. Might be locally milled, assuming its real wood, not an engineered product. Hard to tell from just a picture, you would need a cross section, and maybe pictures from farther away so we can get the big picture. Size and thickness, etc.

I agree, most likely cedar unless it was milled locally.

Here's another not that great picture from further away, unfortunately I don't have a pic that's a bit closer, but not too close. Thanks.

Ya, but not often. I don't recall ever staining more than 2 houses with cypress siding. Couldn't count the ones with cedar siding
