Easiest Way to Fix aluminum siding trim?
Hey guys,
I'm looking at aluminum siding trim around our house that was just caulked in. Everythings rotten now! Whats the easiest fix? Ive seen photos of rabbet cut PVC and I like that idea. Just not sure how to properly flash it in.

What is the easiest proper fix in regards to the caulked in aluminum siding? New PVC trim and J channel around the windows?
I'm gutting the home, but I've never messed with aluminum siding. I'm debating on total replacement but it's not really in the budget.

J-channel and rabbeted edge trim that overlaps the siding are not the answer as you cannot seal the end of the siding. You would be better off scraping, priming with oil primer and painting the existing wood. If anything is rotten, replace it. Use pvc if you like.
Looks like it hasn't been taken care of in 20 yrs... wood goes to pot if it isn't kept primed and painted.
