Front Porch Post Repair
Hi everyone,
I had some rot going on in one of my porch posts and did some digging around in the post to see how far it went. I believe it's water damage more than termite damage, but i've never seen a hollow post with a steel threaded rod inside it before. Can anyone give me some idea of how it works and how i might need to repair it?
Thanks,
Steve

Not sure what's going on there but oftentimes carpenters would just drill a hole for a short rod of some type into the cement, and drill a corresponding hole in the post so that when the post is installed over the rod, it can't go anywhere. It's just a means to prevent lateral movement.
