Interior stain under exterior clear finish. OK or not?

Hello,

I'd like to use Minwax interior stain on my new oak threshold. I will be coating it with multiple coats of Epiphanes clear, marine, finish with UV protection.
Is the UV protection from the Epiphanes sufficient to protect the stain color?
Is there a better option?

Thanks in advance.

If it was mine I'd be using Bristol finish instead.
Fast drying, self leveling, far more UV protection.

it will be ok, exterior wood doors are normally stained with the same/similar stain before being coated with a spar varnish/poly. Normally the finish will deteriorate before the stain does.

Thanks @joecaption. The Bristol product does look excellent. Now I wish I hadn't already purchased the Epifanes. Truthfully, now I wish I hadn't bought an oak threshold. I should have had it made from a darker wood that didn't need to be stained.

Thanks @marksr. What you said is what I was thinking. The folks at Minwax, however, say their interior stain should not be used for an exterior application--even if covered with a UV protecting clear coat.

Unless I'm mistaken every wood door I've ever stained was done using an interior stain [minwax or similar] .... and I've stained 100s of exterior wood doors over the years.
