log-look siding separation

Our home has a screened in porch with log siding. It is not full log but is about 11/2 thick and cut rounded to resemble logs. My problem: there is a area about 9 inches long and 5 high where the outer layer of wood (about 3/8" thick) is, for lack of a better description,de-laminating. This siding is made of pine. The affected area is on the South side of the house and we live in NW Georgia. To cut out the entire piece of siding and replace it would be difficult and/or expensive. Can anyone suggest an alternative. Perhaps some kind of a paintable/stainable wood filler? Open to any suggestions

Are you sure that it's pine? Some pics might help.
