How to extend clapboards over concrete

I want to extend the clapboards over bare parts of my concrete foundation, but I don't know how to apply a backer. Should I screw in OSB or plywood? Do I need to wrap the backer in Tyvek or some other barrier? Does "wrapping" mean wrapping all the way around or just tacking it to the front of the backer boards? Thank you.

 

Hard to answer without seeing it. Generally you want the concrete to be at the same level as your wall sheathing, which means adding furring/strapping onto the wall first. This would have to be anchored to the concrete, and tapcons are usually the best way to do that. I would not use OSB, and if you use plywood, it should be pressure treated marine plywood. You dont have to sheet the whole wall, you just need a strip that will act as your nailer. If you need some odd size that plywood does not come in, you could rip treated 2x4s or similar whatever size you need on a table saw and then install them 16" on center.

Most mfg's require a WRB such as housewrap to be applied to the wall directly behind their siding.
