Room addition

Quick question, we are hoping to build a bathroom addition on the back corner of our brick home. We are going to leave the brick exterior for an accent wall in the new room, and we will pour footings with cinder block up to the floor joist.

Mu question is , would it be best to saw cut and remove the exiting brick where the current wall joist is so that it is exposed and I can tie in there?

please advise

Yes, otherwise you have air leakage and heat loss in that area.

How else would you tie in? Brick is not structural all that often to attach just to that.
