Fence top

What is the best way to cut off the top of 4x4 fence post ? I also have a section of fence that will be sloped, what tool should I use to cut the tops off level with the beam? Should I cut them at an angle first at top then adjust height board by board but cutting bottom?

You can do it with two passes of a 7 1/4" circle saw, or a reciprocating saw. I always leave an inch or soproud of the top rail, whether it is angled or straight. It falls to personal preference, but I like all picket tops to be level, stair stepping them down a slope. Others may have better solutions, so hang in there

Run a string along the length to maintain level or even height for all post. Cut at an angle. You don't want water to sit on top of post.

Cut off the tops of the posts after the fence is built to maintain a uniform height above the top of the fence.
