Galvanized gate post

So I am installing a galvanized chain link fence post and using brackets attaching wood to it. First off I live in CA so no frost line. I dug a hole 24" deep and plan to put the post into concrete and extent out 6'. So 2' in and 6' out. Can this post stand by itself and hold up a 3' x 6' galvanized fence? Would it be more ideal to have this free standing post be the latch side and not the hinge side of the gate. Should I use a 10' post go in 3' and cross support on the other side of the gate? Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks,
J

Do I understand correctly that this fencing is 6' tall?

Why do you want to attach wood to it?

Is this for a gate? If so, is it 3' wide?

Chain link will have little wind resistance but if there is a gate swinging from a post, you will probably need a deeper hole and/or bracing.

The fence is 6' tall. This post is to hold the gate. It's a 3'wide by 6' tall gate. The wood is for privacy. Its to close in a yard.

Thanks,

Photos would help us help you. What will be on each side of the gate? (building, fence. etc?)
