Building fence on top of retaining wall

My current side by side spruce fence was built on top of a retaining wall. It has steel posts buried inside the wall. I don't know how deep the posts were buried. Is it safe to replace the fence with board on board fence? I am wondering if the extra weight will be a burden to the posts and retaining wall and cause issues in the long run.

All suggestions and advice will be appreciated!

I don't think the weight of the fence will be as much an issue as windage. Will your new fence be the same height as the old one or will it be taller?

You have a good point. It's windy in the spring and the house is next to green fields. We'll not change the height of the fence.
