What is the proper way to install vinyl lattice fencing??
So I took off work yesterday and all I got done was driving back and forth all day talking with the big box sales people and receiving contradicting information. Anyway, can someone please tell me how to install this type of fencing. Here is my setup: I have 4x4 pre treated posts spaced 4' apart. I have only 6 posts because it will be used as a privacy fence on one side of my patio. The height ranges from 4.5ft to 5.5ft. I am looking for it to look nice and do not want to just nail them to the posts. I heard it all from using the plastic channels to 1x2s, 1x4s, to 2x3s etc... Do I just top mount them? Are the vinyl channels enough? If I go with the 1x4s , how exactly do I do this so that the front and back look decent? Can someone please shed some experienced light on this issue?
Thanks!!
Rick

Everybody needs to understand that 99% of big box store personnel simply haven't a clue, once in awhile you come across someone who really is knowable, but typ they are just someone working a sales & stock job.
OK rant over.
Can you provide a link to the fence so we can see what you are trying to install?

I would suggest you put white pvc post sleeves over your posts so that they are white and maintenance free. Put pvc post caps on next.
Then make your own frame...out of u-shaped channel that you will make out of 1x3 and 1x2... 1x3 screwed to each post. 1x3 across the top and bottom. (The lattice can be cut to size to fit within this frame.) Then place a 1x2 stop on each side of the lattice, screwed to the 1x3 though the narrow side. The lattice will be captured between the stops. Drill 3/8" weep holes down the center so water can run out the bottom.
Edit: oops, I guess I was picturing a white fence.
