Fence calculator for shadowbox fence
Hi all!
I have been looking for a calculator to determine what I need for lumber to build a shadowbox fence. Every online calculator seems to show that I need only 10-12 2x6 boards for an 8 foot fence. That seems like enough to cover only one side. Are there any calculators that you can recommend? I want to make it 6' tall by 8' long (to be added to at a late date), using 2x6 pickets and 4 or maybe 4.5 inch spacing.
Thanks in advance!

Don't think you really need a "calculator" for that... so can't help you there.
5 1/2" + 4 1/2" is 10". So in 100" you will have roughly 10 pc of 2x6 per side. Shadowbox style alternates one on one side, one on the other. So you will also have 10 on the other side. That's 20 pc of 2x6x6' or 10 pc of 2x6x12' if you are cutting them to length yourself. 2 pc of 2x4x8' horizontally between your posts. 4 Simpson FB 2x4 hanger brackets. Two 4x4 posts to do a single 8' section... 3 posts to do 16' and so on.
Not too many people use 2x6 for the pickets. Sure you don't mean 1x6?
