Extending chainlink fence

i have a 110lb American Bulldog that likes to jump our 4ft chainlink fence and visit with neighbors and neighborhood dogs. Because of his size we are worried he will hurt a smaller dog or get hit by a car. What is the best way to extend the height of current chainlink fence without the expensive alternative of replacing it? Anyone have any inexpensive ideas?

I have successfully woven new links (link material) into an existing fence to make it longer . . . . but never to make it taller.

I would toy with the idea of adding a 1 or 2 foot solid top onto such a fence by inserting supporting rigid stock down into the existing links (1" X ¼") and up 1-2 feet on the inside of the material chosen to increase the height . . . . but I have my concerns about how this can be made to look reasonably attractive.

About the only inexpensive idea would be to add some privacy slats that would stick out at the top.

Might work if you have them diagonal and weave them together for added strength.
