Fireplace insert

I want to build a gas fireplace in my house. There is currently no fireplace at all so need ventless. I am looking to buy a used insert and will have a propane intake delivered. Has anyone done This?
  • good complete video's, how to document site, book?
  • Will a vented insert work for ventless logs? If so what would have to be done? Sheet metal over the vent holes?
  • I need to build a hearth. Thinking 2×10 base with faux rock and tile top. Thoughts?
  • Do I cut the sheet rock on the existing wall and frame around the insert with 2×4s or leave the sheet rock in place and framing with 2×4's attached to studs behind sheetrock?
  • If using faux rock on the hearth base and all the way up the wall do I use standard sheetrock or concrete backer board?
  • Any other considerations especially from a safety stand point?
thanks!
Wade

If it's there to provide heat, then it will be large enough to generate Carbon Monoxide in sufficient volume that it must be vented to avoid being a health hazard to your Family.
