Level joist with 1x or 2x
I'm leveling the floor in a room to put new subfloor and flooring. The joists need leveling but wondering if I can use 1x 6 x 12' instead of 2x6 to level?
no structural support needed.
Assume a 2x is easier to screw into from the top?

That depends on how you will be using the wood. If simply laying the wood on top of the joist then the 1"x can work. If attaching it to the side of the joist and then attaching your subflooring into the narrow edge of the wood then I'd go for 2" lumber. It will be easier to hit and won't split as readily as 1" lumber which will actually be closer to 3/4".

I`m using 2 nails every 12" to attach the 2x6 to the joist - is that enough? It is after all, the new 2x6 that will take the initial load and transfer to the joist...

It is a 3.5 inch nail but I am using 2 nails (1 above and below each other) every 12 inches.
Should it be 3 nails every 12 inches or 2 nails every 16, etc.?
