Sister joist with cedar wedges?

I have found a sister joist that a previous owner put in. It seems it was a little short as they have put cedar autos at each end. Is this blocking strong enough for a load bearing joist?

Those shims shouldn't be an issue.

I prefer to use steel but I have seen many old houses with shims like that and they seem to work OK.
