Blocking under subfloor, nails or screws

I leveled my floors and put blocking crossways between the joists for extra support.
the joist leveling is nailed but the cross blocking is screwed because it was difficult to keep in place and nail in. Each block has 2 screws on each side. I'm concerned that over time with the floor and joists flexing a bit that the screws might shear. Was I supposed to toe nail the blocking or do you think the screws will be ok?
