Felt underlay for hardwood?

I was going to install felt but is it really necessary with hardwood on OSB subfloor?
everythingi thought it was useful for is refuted by a few articles like:

I completely agree the paper has nothing to do with squeaks, that is board to board, not board to floor.

So do I install felt, no, I now use silicone paper, it eliminates the heavy petroleum/felt paper smell.

Is it needed, probably not, about the only benefit I can give is before installing wood I have a nice clean surface to work with.

So, use it if you want or dont use, in the grand scheme of the project it's not much of a cost!

But for what benefit? Just a cleaner area or is it helping in the long run with dust?
