Attach support to 1/2" osb

Garage redo... making two angle brackets out of 2x4 to attach to the wall to store plywood up to 24"w standing up. I may have 20 sheets of various stuff, weight abt 150#? Many of which are only 16" wide, so I want to space the brackets abt 16 apart, BUT the osb on my garage wall is nailed 24" oc. How would you attach the bracket to the wall that is NOT over a stud? Attaching one over the stud is easy, I plan on a couple 4" lag screws. I'm wondering if I glue and screw a 12x12x1" support board to the wall underneath the bracket it may support the bracket ok?

While you could screw it to the OSB, it's really not going to support much. OSB on its own doesn't have much structural strength. I'd much rather just put the brackets on 24" centers well secured to the studs.

The only way I'd even consider mounting to OSB would be to sandwich the OSB between the bracket and something behind the OSB... which brings back to just mounting to the studs.

that's what I thought... so I could lag the brackets to studs 24" on center and put a 24" shelf over it so small pieces won't fall thru... thanks
