Rocking mechanism for vintage wooden chair
Photo
Hi - attached is a photo of a wooden chair that is missing the rocking mechanism that attaches the base to the seat. It's not a true rocking chair, but kind of bounced back and forth. Does anyone recognize this type of chair and know what kind of mechanism I need to find to make it work again? Thanks in advance for any insight!!

I don't know if you will have any luck "finding" the parts needed. I'm thinking you'll have to make the rocking hinge. They usually have a spring assembly in the middle that simply holds the two halves of the chair together while still allowing the top part to rock. I've seen them as two vertical coil springs and I've seen them with large coil horizontal springs.
