Spots on the wood tables

I stained two wood tables and used miniwax polyurethane clear glossy but I saw lot of spots on the wood tables. I removed the clear glossy and I stained them again. What do you suggest because I won't use Polyurethane anymore?

Are you referring to the blotchy stain and what looks to be a water ring under the finish? Not the fault of the finish, but gloss anything will amplify any faults.

Uneven staining can be caused by many things. A particularly annoying one is contamination of the wood from the use of polish or other products that contain silicone. If your table's original finish was tired & you used a quick-shine product like Pledge on it, some may have seeped through & into the wood itself.

I am always amused watching a baseball game and seeing a batter swing and miss and then look at his bat like somehow it was the bat's fault.

I think this is the same situation only you're looking at the poly.

Looks like the wood needs to be sanded and re stained.

Stay away from Mimwax, the stain is ok but the top coats are krap.

An excellent finish is Old Masters water based urethane, Naturally costs more but results are perfect!

I imagine those spots and stains were on there before you used the polyurethane.
