Sanding Cherry: blue/gray stains appearing
Hey there! As I'm sanding a cherry desk top I'm finding gray/blue circles and streaks. The stains do not come out with further sanding and I'm not doing anything differently, causing the stains myself. I read about blue/gray stains in cherry naturally from fungus, etc, but not sure if this is what I've got or how to proceed. Was hoping to condition the wood and possibly just a few coats of polycrylic, leaving it natural, but now I'm wondering if I should go darker to cover up these spots. Will try to post a photo. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

The "cherry" is just a very thin layer and you are sanding through the thin veneer and into the substrate below. (i.e. you've ruined it.)
