dresser repair for wear from drawer
I have an old dresser and the drawer's outer frame slides in/out on a wood base. The drawer bottom edge has carved a groove in the wood base that's about 1/16 deep and about 80% the run of the drawer. I was thinking of using a wood filler to reduce the groove made by the drawer and do something to either the wood base or the drawer contact areas to reduce the friction or wear but I have no idea of what to use for that or if thats the best solution.. Its an older piece not valuable and not frequently used. thank you.

You can fill in the worn area with wood filler as you suggest, and then use some UHMW tape on the contact area to provide a low friction glide. The tape is thin so it shouldn't cause problems with the drawer jamming.
For a piece that isn't used often and isn't valuable, it's reasonable to fix it that way.

That's just an example, lots of choices and widths, etc. It can be easily cut with scissors.
