Shed for kayaks and lumber storage: 4x4 's or 2x4's cemented in ground
Was going to build something like this, SUP Shack Finished - Stand Up Paddle / SUP - Seabreeze Forums! saw this on a paddling forum years ago and have been dreaming about it ever since.: "/> with lumber storage hanging on left and kayaks on right. I was going to cement posts in the ground (PT) thought I could save a few $$ by just sisterering 2x4's and cementing in the ground rather than 4x4's. I know 2 2x4's arent the same dimensions as 4x4, but that isn't important for this project.

I definitely have to agree with marksr, you definitely need to go with 4x4s. Other than the problems mentioned by mark, the double 2x4s will be much more susceptible to twisting as a dry and you will also get water infiltration between the 2 of them causing additional rotting concerns.

The way that's built would never stand up to a building inspection any place I've lived, and with your snow loads it would be asking for trouble.
Wood siding installed to close to grade so it's going to stain and rot sooner.
Again code to just bolt rafters to the side of a post like that, and under sized rafters.
Purlins are to small.
No flashing at the wall to roof.
Rafters spaced to far apart.
Not enough roofing over hangs on any of the roof in that picture.
Way under sized beams for the rafters to sit on.
