Genie screw drive garage door
Good morning ,
New to this forum and desperate

2 days ago my garage door had a grinding noise when opening the door .
On the way down it was fine but going up halfway through there was a huge grinding noise . Now going down or up the grounding noise is present??? If I pull or push on the door while its moving its fine .
the motor seems fine , I lubed the screw, ...could it be the part that is moving along the screw being damaged???
Thank you for you help

First step is to disengage the door from the opener using the manual release and see if the door opens and closes smoothly when moved by hand. If there's a problem with the door, fix that first.
If the door is fine by itself, then examine the trolley that rides along the track for damage or excessive wear. Lubing the screw is good, but before you lubed it you should have cleaned the screw of all old grease and dirt, which can pack into the threads and cause wear or damage to the trolley. If all that fails then the problem is likely in the gear mechanism that drives the screw itself.
