Carport cover: will it hold?

I'm looking to build a 22x24 carport cover (FLAT ROOF) using 2x12x24 lumber to make a grid then using 2x12x8 lumber as rafters. Would a 4x4 post half-way along the front and back be enough support? The house will be on end and 2 4x4 posts will be on the outside end.

Thanks
Wayne

Welcome to the forums! While it is doubtful you will find 2x12x24' long lumber, it is a rather large roof for no slope. I would consider using 2x10 LVL with that length and support it in the middle with your 4x4, braced off in a manner so as to prevent movement in either direction. Of course getting a permit and advice from your local government officials would be best, since you are attaching it to your house. You will need to figure some sort of drain slope to take the rain away from your house. You don't have snow load, so it may not be a factor.
