Issues with garage opener in the morning
My garage opener has been working fine for years. It's an old Lift-Master 1/2 HP unit.
In the last week it has developed a quirk: it won't open right away some mornings. When the button is pressed, I hear a hum for about 1/2 second, but no mechanical movement. However, if a disengage the chain, open manually and the engage the chain again, the openers works fine - many times during the day. Never had the problem occur other than the first open in the morning (I presume it's related to how long the door has been close, not temperature since it's been mild temperatures ~45F low)
Thanks for any insights

A model number for your opener would be a help.
Your problem sounds like a start capacitor going bad. Replacing it is not too difficult, but you should find one that matches the original.
