Overhead door header size.

Hi All, wondering if someone can help me with determining the size of an overhead door header.

I want to install an overhead door into my shop. The header length would need to be almost 18' and the door would be installed into the gable end. So the only load is the gable end and whatever little bit of roof weight that is being transferred into them. I live in canada and we do get lots of snow in the winter, but I have a tin roof usually it slides off and it doesn't accumulate much. I Don't think teh gable walls have webbing in them, just vertical studs. The walls are 2x6. Any help would be appreciated.

You probably need a double or triple LVL Header unless you go for a steel I Beam. There are various sites that may help you with your calculation.
