Garage door stopped opening

Hi all!

My garage door just stopped opening all of a sudden and I'm not sure why. I came home last night and the garage opened and closed fine but this morning it is not opening. There are a few things that I've noticed:

1) I had accidentally knocked over one of the motion sensors yesterday but I put it back in place and tested to make sure the sensors are working (they have power, and when I put my foot between them one of the lights comes off). So I do not think that is the issue but perhaps it triggered something or there is something else wrong with it that I do not know?

2) My garage door button is flashing rapidly when this was not happening before.

I have uploaded a video of the garage door button - https://youtu.be/EJzlPlQpt2Y

as you can see it is one of those simple "doorbell" style buttons. I did hold it down for a minute but it did not do anything.

3) The opener gets power as I tested the outlet in the ceiling.

I did a bunch of research online and cannot find anything...

Any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Also one quick note - it is a Liftmaster brand unit.

Welcome to the forums.

Not sure what's up with that pushbutton. Since it's a normally lit type and it's out now... it would suggest a control board problem.

Some openers have a lock mode that is controlled from the wall control.

You could try unplugging the unit for a minute and then retrying it.

An actual model number would help me better pinpoint the problem.

Wow thanks for your quick replies guys!

It is a Liftmaster 1/3 HP unit. The only thing I see is a Part Number which is:

41A5021-1H-315.

I believe it is the sensors and they are not working properly somehow. I noticed the following things just now:

1) The main sensor seems to be working as when I put my hand in front of it, the light turns off.

2) If I unplug the garage door opener unit, the button light turns off. So the button is recognizing the unit and it seems that because of the unit is getting power?

I did also unplug the unit for a minute and that did not help (other than noticing that the push button does not light up any more)

That's the part number for the control board. Thr actual model ID tag may be on the top where it's tough to see.

I'll see if I can find out a solution based on that control board.

One sensor is a transmitter (I.R. light) and the other is the receiver.
If the receiver light goes out when the beam is blocked then the pair is working properly.

Oh sorry about that! I just looked on the top of the unit and there doesn't seem to be a model number there. See attached picture.

So then the sensors are definitely working because it does go out.Name: 20170701_090256.jpg

The circuit board is faulty, Some how for some reason the circuit board is locked. Try holding the purple smart button till the LED goes out... Then you will need to reprogram any remotes.

I'm sorry for the late reply but during the week I am mostly working all day and evening. I did replace the garage door sensors and that did not work so it is definitely not the sensors.

I think it might be the logic board - the little LED light on the logic board does not even light up or flash. Would that be an indication that it does not work anymore?

Yes.... it looks to be a defective control board.
