Gate opener will not close / stay closed

Hi all,
Liftmaster MODEL SW420 33 11 G3
EBOX 74-35865
SERIAL# 3311N7271
It seems to be going past it's proper "STOP" point, forcefully locking the extension / control arm until auto-reversing to full open.
There is a yellow blinking light / Diag. on the circuit board.
After cycling 3 times this was smoking hot: (will attempt to post picture here)
ok - impossible to post picture...
Any suggestions? Thanks

How many blinks?
There is a table in the manual to look up what the blinks mean. Couldn't paste it well on my phone.

DIAGNOSTICS (LEDS AND CODES)
There are three diagnostic LEDs. Two red LEDs (OLS, CLS) are
indicators for the open and close limits. The LEDs are illuminated
when the limit switch contacts are closed.
The third amber LED (DIAG) is used to blink out diagnostic
codes. The number is the count of the number of times the LED
is on in an 8 second period. The LED is on for approximately 1/2
second and repeats every second until the number is reached.
There will be a pause following each pulse cycle (1-6 pulses) to
differentiate between the different diagnostic codes.

Wow! My computer was completely out of memory / storage & locked up. Finally managed to free up space to edit & post these pics.
Thanks for above help!!!
The "Diag." light blinks only once per 8 second cycle.
Has always worked correctly before.

Wait a second... This is whack! (welcome to my world..)
Here is pictures of the gate in the fully closed position. It won't close! Hmmmm - nothing has changed yet the opener arm will no longer extend enough to fully close the gate.
The opener is welded to mounting posts. The arm mount is also welded. Gate post secure.
It's always closed completely in line with the open side post.
I'm stumped!

If your arm is straight and the gate is still not closed, then something has broken, bent or slipped. Did the gate get hit while closed and move the two steel post the opener is mounted to?

That's what is whack... nothing has been hit. All is intact as it was. Crazy.
Just keeping it open for now.
When attempting to correct it I found that it was closing "tighter" before reversing. But unable to close manually all the way.
Weird.

Further inspection revealed that the "open" limit switch popped apart... resulting in the auto-reverse & fault code.
This is old... so far not much help finding replacement switch. Anybody happen to have one? (no luck at 2 local dealers)

The limit switches look similar to a commercial garage door opener... any door company should be able to get a close match or find a Liftmaster dealer and have them order you some... might as well replace them all. I believe a Raynor or Allister limit switch will work.

Working for now - Thanks ^^ Want some replacements. Old one working but it'll probably pop apart again at some point.
