How to program Genie Pro 88 Screw Drive Garage door opener

I saw a thread with the same title (I added the word garage) however I was not able to reply to it since it was so old I guess. The guy who created it did not specify what remote he used to get it to work. Anyway I have a very old garage door opener and the guy in the thread was able to program a remote. This super old model doesn't have a learn button but it does have a receiver with the number pins (whatever those are called). The universal remote that I bought has one more pin than the garage door opener receiver. I set the codes to match (except for the extra pin/number I have on the universal remote that I purchased from Amazon) but I'm not able to program the remote to work. Do I need to buy a remote that has the same number of pins? If yes then does anyone know where I would purchase that? Thank you!

You have told us about the opener. Please tell us the info about the remote you are attempting to use.

 

The number of pins do matter. You should have at least as many pins on your remote as there are on the opener. If you have more pins on the remote than on the opener, you will need instructions from the remote manufacturer on which ones to use. I use the Clicker Universal Remote from Chamberlain .
