Siding options for detached garage

Looking for some budget friendly options to fix the siding of our detached garage. I was thinking to add vinyl siding but wasn't sure if I would have to patch up the uneven middle area or put the siding right over it. Any recommendations would be great! (see attached pic)

Welcome to the forums!

How do you propose to get your strapping on evenly and securely without patching the stucco? Next to the garage door where there isn't an overhang you'd have to figure out the flashing to seal off the top of the vinyl. It might be easier to patch the stucco and then just paint it.

I agree, no way would I try to vinyl side that!
If it was mine it would have been torn down long ago and replaced with a real garage.
Way to many issue with Stucco and that low slope roof for me.
