carriage position when installing garage door opener .??

When installing garage door opener . I noticed when u first powerup unit and press the button for door to close/open the trolley moves down (as if closing the door) .

so my assumption is when securing chain the carriage should be closest to the actual garage door opener???

also . How much adjustment does limit switch have is it full length of the track??

It all depends on what what model you have, a general rule of thumb is to place the car/trolley as if the door is in the closed position. Newer Chamberlain openers it doesn't matter.

Thats weird I would assume to secure in the open position . As when u first click the button the trolley moves towards the closed position . .

*I'm using the older style craftsman
