Reapplying Garage Floor Epoxy Covering

Hello Guys,

When I bought my house about 15 years ago I put down an epoxy floor paint. It's held up pretty well but I would like to redo it to make it new again. How would I prep the surface to reapply the epoxy? Thanks.

Like any re-paint it will need a mechanical sanding to remove all dirt, grime, oil and gloss finish.

I'd clean it well first, then a light sanding. If you skip the cleaning you'll likely the grind the dirt/grease into the existing coating. Are there any peeled spots?

Do you know for certain what product you applied 15 years ago? You need to make sure the coating you apply now will be compatible. I've never tried mixing solvent and water based epoxies but I know some manufacturers are very specific about the base for their coatings.
