What's wrong with this bush?

Hello All,

Please see below picture.

Do you know what could be wrong with this bush? Are insects killing it or is it diseased?

I cannot see any bugs on the bush as of right now.

You can see small holes... bugs are eating the bush.

I agree.... some kind of bug has definitely been chewing on the leaves. My first thought is aphids. Then maybe a caterpillar or beetle.

Killing it? No... tasting it? Yes.

It's an English Laurel.

HD recommends 3 in 1 insect, disease, and mite control hose spray

This site seems to suggest slugs as a possibility, and suggests that on larger plants the damage is usually superficial and that no action is necessary on a well established plant.
