Ground cover with sun
I have an area in my yard (used to have pine trees)- they have fallen down in past storms.... It's hard soil that is now getting a lot of weeds- Mostly sun. Looking for a cheap ground cover (or another solution) that will grow and cover the area (quickly hopefully)

Is grass not an option? With the trees gone and a core aeration to loosen the soil, grass could thrive.

If grass has difficulty in the area I would try planting clover. It's green and you can mow it like grass. Over time it will fix nitrogen into the soil and make the ground more hospitable to grass.
