removing tree stumps

So I cut down two of the Ash trees I had mentioned in previous posts that had fallen victim to the effects of the Emerald Ash Borer.

What a waste - that's good hardwood.

Are there any Old-timer solutions to getting rid of the stumps - short of bringing in a stump grinding service?

Stump grinding or digging them up is still the best option if you want them gone in a reasonable length of time.

A bulldozer can often push everything up if you left the stumps a few feet tall.

I've burnt stumps out of the ground on trees that have been dead for a while.

Depends on your local Fire Regulations whether that could work for you.
