Question Maytag DG 4000 Dryer Takes Hours To Dry

I replaced the coils in this drier in March it help a bit ... I can see the fire going behind the panel. The timer on the drier no longer works so I have to remember to go and check on it. It take two or more hours to dry clothes depending on the load size and what I am drying.

I looked at new driers but the bad reviews of them not drying the clothes fully bothers me. Also the bad reviews are saying they are poorly made with cheap materials. Is it true they only make them to last 5-6 years?

This drier is 28 years old ... what if a new drier will work no better than my old or worst? Should I try and fix my old drier?

It is absolutely imperative that the duct system be 100% free of lint. Take the duct system apart and clean it first. That is the biggest reason for short cycling and long drying time.

My Whirlpool gas dryer is 25 years old. No way I'm going to replace it.

do as Pete says clean or replace vent all the way to outside. Nothing wrong with dryer and new dryer is not any better.
