Help with BBQ Grill Propane Connection

I rescued a Kenmore gas grill out of my neighbors trash and was surprised to find this at the end of the gas line. Is this broken, missing a piece, workable with a connector or something?

It looks like part of a quick disconnect system. Not really sure.
Post the full model number of the grill. It will look like xxx.xxxxxxxx

ohhh, I googled your "quick connect" idea and think this could be a natural gas connect?? Uh oh, does that make this more complex or easy?
