Gas grill flame-out?

I am having problems with 4 of the 6 tubes on my grill.
When they are lit a large flame comes out of the hole adjacent to the burner - see X on photo. You have to turn the burner off to get it to stop flaming. I have cleaned the burner tubes and the little brass nipples(?) on the gas lines, but the problem persists.
All suggestions appreciated! Supposed to have a family BBQ tomorrow...

Check the inside of the burner tubes to make sure they aren't blocked. Also make sure the burner tube is installed to the gas jet can squirt right into the center of the burner tube opening.
