Question How do I handle a Hot Surface ignitor

I know that the oils from my fingers can damage the HSI. I will be installing a new one and have both Latex and Nitrile disposable Gloves. Is it a good idea to use gloves just to be safe? If so should I use one type of glove over the other?

Gloves are not a bad idea. Either type is fine. Non-powdered is best, but if they are powdered, just rinse off and dry your hands once you put the gloves on to rinse off any powder residue.

Would you like the same answer as you got at the useful hvac-talk site ?

Gloves really aren't necessary. The igniter is more easily damaged by hitting the ceramic against something versus a minor bit of skin oil. Every effort should be made not to touch the ceramic part.
